About the Role

Are you an experienced warehouse professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for operational excellence? We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Mid-Shift Supervisor to join our team in Bury and support the day-to-day running of our cold store operation.

 

As Mid-Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a team of warehouse operatives, ensuring workloads are managed effectively and that operational targets, customer requirements, and safety standards are achieved. You will work closely with the Operations Manager to maintain a smooth and efficient operation while fostering a positive and productive working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily warehouse activities to ensure operational priorities are met.

  • Lead, motivate, coach, and develop a team of warehouse operatives.

  • Ensure all daily, weekly, and monthly operational checks and records are completed accurately and on time.

  • Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, housekeeping, HACCP compliance, and food safety.

  • Plan staffing requirements, including holiday and absence cover, to ensure operational continuity.

  • Monitor performance, identify operational issues, and implement corrective actions where required.

  • Ensure warehouse space is utilised safely and efficiently while maintaining stock accuracy.

  • Support communication between operational teams, management, and customers to maintain excellent service levels.

  • Act as deputy for the Operations Manager when required.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous supervisory or team leader experience within warehousing, logistics, or distribution.

  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and engage teams.

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment.

  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a positive “can-do” attitude.

  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

  • Ability to work in a cold store environment.

  • Experience within temperature-controlled logistics or food warehousing would be advantageous, but is not essential.
