Life is what you make it. And the same goes for this wide-ranging role in which you are involved with all areas of our IT capability and vision.

Thermotraffic is a leading provider of end-to-end cold chain logistics for clients in the UK and abroad. Effective and future-focused IT solutions are key to our success. Are you an all-round IT Support Engineer who can perform multiple tasks as we optimize our IT? Can you bring a customer- and solution-oriented approach as you constantly interact with others? If so, find out more about how you can make a difference to our dynamic and growing company.

A large and international structure

Thermotraffic is a 100% subsidiary of the Nichirei Corporation. Our objective is to offer a seamless, end-to-end multi-temperature warehousing and logistics chain. In doing so we provide services to importers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and distributors. You will therefore be working within a substantial and proven organization that offers all the resources necessary to do your job to the best of your ability.

Wide ranging support and a positive attitude

As IT Support Engineer at Thermotraffic’s Bury St Edmunds site you are involved in everything that matters. Thus, you act as a System Administrator, Cloud Engineer, Support Employee and Network Engineer. Advising and then operationally delivering a complete network comes as naturally to you as setting up a single workstation. There is endless variety, no boxes, and you love keeping customers, suppliers and colleagues informed of changes and progress.

From day one you will contribute to projects that improve our IT capability. So, you need to be up to date with the latest IT developments.

Your main day-to-day responsibilities are:

• Serve as the first point of contact for IT-related queries through the Service Desk, handling requests via telephone, email, and in person.

• Maintain and manage the ticketing system, ensuring all issues are logged and addressed, including escalation to senior team members when necessary.

• Process onboarding and offboarding of users.

• Install and troubleshoot software and hardware, such as printers and other devices.

• Perform password resets and unlock user accounts.

You work closely with the other UK team members and, when required, with the team in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Because the team is small you can make your mark from the start. Although your main location is our Bury St Edmunds site, travel to other UK sites will be necessary as project demands arise.

The Thermotraffic offer

When you join the Thermotraffic IT team you become part of a friendly, open and supportive workplace. As a company we want you to develop yourself and your career. So, you are encouraged to take courses and gain further qualifications. Thermotraffic offers several further benefits, including:

• A competitive, market-based salary

• 25 days of annual leave, in addition to bank holidays

• Pension and insurance plans

• Opportunities for training and development

To qualify for the position of IT Support Engineer you should have broad foundational IT knowledge and an understanding of Service Desk operations. At a personal level you can work independently and accurately, and you are eager to learn. The nine-to-five mentality is not for you, and you are a true team player, challenging yourself to become an important part of our operation. It is also important that you have strong written and spoken interpersonal skills so that you can explain technical concepts clearly and patiently to non-technical users.

Formal requirements include:

• Three to five years of experience in a similar IT support role, preferably within logistics.

• Experience with application and mobile device management systems such as Apple Business Manager or Samsung Knox.

• Proficiency with Windows 10/11 and Windows Server, and a knowledge of Microsoft 365, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft InTune, and SharePoint.

• Basic understanding of LAN, WLAN, WAN, and WiFi networking.

• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and RF equipment is an advantage.

• A valid driver’s license.

• Willing to work outside office hours and join an On-Call rotation.

• Willing to travel within the UK as required.

• In possession of a valid driver’s licence.

• Authorized to work in the UK for an unlimited period. Thermotraffic does not provide visa sponsorship.
