Deliver outstanding HSE knowledge, monitoring and vision for a leading logistics provider of international logistics

Thermotraffic is an international, multi-temperature warehousing and logistics business providing services to importers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and distributors. This requires us to operate and maintain advanced cold store infrastructure in accordance with the highest levels of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE). To this end, Thermotraffic is both BRC and ISO 9001 certified. Can you help us build on this commitment to outstanding HSE by acting as an expert and proactive HSE Specialist? If so, please read on to find out more about an influential role with wide-ranging responsibilities across multiple sites.

A large and international structure

Thermotraffic is a 100% subsidiary of the Nichirei Corporation. Our objective is to offer a seamless, end-to-end multi-temperature warehousing and logistics chain. In doing so we provide services to importers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and distributors. You will therefore be working within a substantial and proven organization that offers all the resources necessary to do your job to the best of your ability.

Advice, monitoring and continuous improvement

Your core task as our HSE Specialist is to provide advice and direction to individual sites as our organization strives to achieve the highest standards in these crucial disciplines. In doing so you ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and legislation while measuring and monitoring individual, group and contractor performance against best practices and company policies and procedures. Based on this you aim to optimize a process of continuous improvement across HSE performance.

In order to achieve this you:

  • Undertake all updates of HSE programs across the group inclusive of risk assessments and system updates;
  • Undertake scheduled Health and Safety inspections of site activities and ensure that any actions arising from the inspection reports are closed out within set timescales;
  • Review all incident reports and ensure corrective actions are implemented;
  • Develop and review the construction phase of the HSE and Fire & Emergency plans and monitor implementation and adherence to plans;
  • Manage our environmental impact by complying with environmental laws and implementing sustainable practices.

Further, you assist in developing and delivering site inductions, produce HSE reports as requested, and chair regular HSE meetings with all sites.

The Thermotraffic offer

When you join Thermotraffic you become part of an open, friendly and rewarding working environment in which everyone is encouraged to develop themselves personally and professionally. You also benefit from:

  • Market based salary;
  • 25 days of annual holidays plus bank holidays;
  • Pension and insurance;
  • Training opportunities;
  • An informal working atmosphere within an experienced team.

To apply for this position we would prefer you to have an HSE background in logistics and transport or cold storage and refrigeration. However, applicants with extensive HSE experience in other fields will also be considered.

Beyond that, you are an organized, proactive and result-oriented professional with a rigorous eye for detail. You also possess the effective communication and interpersonal skills necessary to embed and maintain a willing culture of HSE excellence across all our operations.

Ideally, you live within easy reach of our large site at Wrexham as this will be your main base, although hybrid working is possible. You will need to visit our other sites on a regular basis so it is essential that you are flexible and have a car as well as a clean driving license.

The more formal requirements for the role are:

  • Completed education in NEBOSH & Tech or Grad IOSH;
  • Knowledge of food safety, specifically the BRC Food Safety Standard – Global Food Safety Resource;
  • Auditor training;
  • Good understanding of IT software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and document control systems.
