Bring all your technical know-how and team working skills to a highly responsible role at the heart of a leading international logistics company

Thermotraffic provides advanced, end-to-end cold chain logistics for clients in the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium and even further afield. Our UK operations are centered on our large, technologically advanced cold store sites at Brierley Hill, Braintree, Lympne, Wrexham, Bury St Edmunds and Newark. Do you have the skills to act as the Maintenance Manager who can oversee the smooth running and optimized utilization of these busy and forward thinking sites? Can you work as part of a friendly and committed team to achieve stretching targets and ensure the highest levels of Health & Safety? If so, we encourage you to find out more about this highly responsible role within a rapidly growing company.

A large and international structure

Thermotraffic is a 100% subsidiary of the Nichirei Corporation. Our objective is to offer a seamless, end-to-end multi-temperature warehousing and logistics chain. In doing so we provide services to importers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and distributors. You will therefore be working within a substantial and proven organization that offers all the resources necessary to do your job to the best of your ability.

All-round maintenance responsibility and responsiveness

As Maintenance Manager at Thermotraffic your core task is to coordinate, supervise and direct Engineers to ensure the maximum effectiveness and utilisation of our UK Plant and Engineering resource. In doing so you apply a proactive approach to the prevention of equipment failure through Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), responding rapidly to any break downs. Teamwork is central and you act as an integral part of the Manufacturing team to ensure that all quality, waste and efficiency targets are met.

On a day-to-day basis you perform all the active oversight and administration that enable you to:

  • Ensure compliance with Company policies, procedures and regulations (e.g. attendance, quality, safety, GMP’s, etc.) and ensure these are followed to maintain the required standards (e.g. Health & Safety, Food Safety, PPE etc.);
  • Efficiently manage and facilitate teams to resolve mechanical and/or electrical problems in a timely fashion;
  • Identify and analyse problems together with teams before crises and determine appropriate action and follow-up;
  • Oversee on-site contractors;
  • Ensure compliance of the ‘Permit to Work’ system by all employees/contractors.

As an experienced Engineer you should know how to use a wide range of power tools, drills and cutting equipment etc, and be comfortable with ladders, steps and walkways. You may have to work with equipment that requires you to wear PPE, and you will occasionally be required to operate fork lift trucks.

You report to the Head of Engineering and deputise for him as required. Although based at Brierley Hill, the nature of your role demands that you travel to all the other sites on a regular basis.

The Thermotraffic offer

As the Maintenance Manager at Thermotraffic you will contribute to an open and friendly working environment where everyone is encouraged to develop themselves both personally and professionally. You will also benefit from:

  • Market based salary;
  • 25 days of annual holidays;
  • Pension and insurances;
  • Training opportunities;
  • An informal working atmosphere within an experienced team.

To apply for the position of Maintenance Manager you should be willing to accept a high degree of accountability while guaranteeing an outstanding standard of planning and execution. You should also embody a true customer focus and possess the interpersonal and people management skills that foster teamwork and cooperation.

The more formal requirements are:

  • Bias Electrical, and/or mechanical qualifications/time served apprenticeship. Level 3 minimum;
  • Previous (automated) industry experience is highly desirable;
  • Solid IT skills, with familiarity with computerised planned maintenance systems management essential;
  • The data and analytical skills necessary to perform effective troubleshooting;
  • Knowledge of temperature control and refrigeration systems;
  • Basic Food Hygiene and Health & Safety knowledge;
  • A good standard of both written and oral English.
