If that sounds like you, read more about a role that offers a high-profile platform on which to display your energy and leadership ability.

A large and international structure

Thermotraffic is a 100% subsidiary of the Nichirei Corporation. We work closely with other members of the Nichirei group such as Norish and Kevin Hancock Ltd to offer a seamless, end-to-end multi-temperature warehousing and logistics chain. In doing so we provide services to importers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and distributors. You will therefore be working within a substantial and proven organization that offers all the resources necessary to do your job to the best of your ability.

An exciting opportunity to combine forward thinking with real time focus

Your core task as the Manager Freight Forwarding role is to develop and oversee all aspects of our import and export freight forwarding function, focusing on profit through revenue growth, productivity improvements and cost controls. In doing so you assist in developing a control tower to provide enhanced end-to-end supply chain visibility. Within that process you create and maintain a well-functioning team by leveraging individual capabilities, our freight forwarding network, and other value-adding activities.

This requires you to:

  • Manage all day-to-day operations and implement more efficient working practices and procedures;
  • Prepare annual budgets in collaboration with finance and commercial teams and ensure delivery through P&L and customer management;
  • Review and evaluate account profitability, performance and KPIs and establish plans to address shortfalls;
  • Be involved in the implementation of new business to ensure the correct processes are in place before the movement of goods;
  • Maintain high standards of work per our ISO9001, ISO22000 and AEO accreditations;
  • Provide input for the monthly report timely and as per instructions.

At all times you stay up-to-date with all relevant rules and regulations while adhering to business policies, processes, procedures and industry legislation. At the same time you foster a mindset focused on simplifying, optimizing and digitalizing processes and tasks via solutions that have a demonstrable, long-term and scalable benefit for the business and our customers.

You will also benefit from:

  • Market competitive salary
  • 25 days of annual leave
  • Company pension plan
  • Company Car
  • Functional tools such as a smartphone and laptop

This is a role for a positive individual who can maintain existing relationships and build new relationships with suppliers and business partners. At the same time, you establish the tactical actions for growth, providing direction and clear priorities combined with a strong sense of execution to the team.

You therefore possess excellent problem-solving skills and a high level of commercial awareness, along with experience of managing people and the ability to work both independently and within a team. Reacting and adapting to a fast-paced and evolving environment, you align and involve staff, colleagues, customers, suppliers, and business partners so that we enable an empowered, disciplined and accountable culture. You motivate staff to take pride in the company and ensure that your team accesses the training necessary to offer quality logistics services.
